Easy and effective way to treat sunburn at home

Has the harsh summer sun left your skin with blisters and sunburn? Don’t just sit thinking that time will heal your skin or grab those chemical-based creams to deal with sunburns. There’s an effective and simple home remedy to relieve itchy skin, redness and blisters caused due to sunburn – aloe vera.

Aloe vera – how it helps?

A popular treatment for sunburn, aloe vera helps the epidermis (upper layer of the skin) to heal faster. It also contains zinc, which is anti-inflammatory in nature and prevents swelling of the skin. Also, applying aloe vera soothes your skin and thus, combats redness and itchiness. Here are 4 home remedies for sunburn by Shahnaz Husain.

How to use?

  • Refrigerate an aloe vera leaf (for 12 hours/ whole night). Then, peel it off.
  • Apply the gel on your sunburn and leave it for 15 minutes.
  • You can also peel the leaf and refrigerate the gel in an ice tray and use it to soothe your skin
  • Do this twice a day for 2 – 3 days to get rid of sunburn

Note: Aloe vera is suitable for every skin type. If you still have doubts, do a patch test before you use it.
